The morning we arrived in Mazatlan was pretty drizzly. We decided to brave the...drizzle...and head to town.
Andy and I are definite explorers - we don't like to do what everyone else is doing which usually leads to us wandering. And wandering. And wandering. But it's fun and we like it that way. Well, we decided the city center didn't look too far from the ship and that we were going to walk. And like the pioneer children we walked and walked and walked and walked. And then came to a dead end. We admitted that we were a little lost and found a taxi to take us to the city center. Turns out we were not even headed the right direction in the first place!
I will admit, Mazatlan was not my favorite. However, it was good for my siblings to see poverty and really, a third world city.
We visited the market. Em really wanted one of those but we told her they wouldn't let her bring it back on the ship haha.
This place was really unsanitary, as you can tell.
And then we decided to wander. Again. We like to think we learn from our lessons of coming to dead ends, but we don't. We found the ocean and the sun began to come out so we decided to grab some chairs at this little cabana and enjoy the sun while it lasted. Half of us swam, the other half enjoyed fresh salsa. Mmmm.

Was that Emily next to you in that first picture? Isn't she only like 7 or something? Or did she grow up, like everyone else?
Beautiful Sunset picture --- and interesting what a different Mazatlan you seemed to have seen than we did ---
