Hawaii - Exploring Oahu

After about a week in Hilo with the Hebb's, we flew back to Oahu for a few days of exploration before getting on cruise numero uno. Our pal, Joe, who we met in Denali, lives in Oahu and let us camp on his property (because camping doesn't exist on Oahu...and we won't go into that story). We were so appreciative of a place to stay and shower, but it was so hot and rather miserable. We couldn't fall asleep at night because our tent (which really is awesome, by the way) is a four season tent. It is made for mountaineering, not sleeping in the tropics. Anyway, here are a few things we did:
Pearl Harbor
Polynesian Cultural Center

Warning: Purple food should not be ingested. Something just isn't right about it. Same goes for green ketchup or blue butter.

Laie Hawaii Temple

North Shore

Two things: 1. If you ever pass Giovanni's shrimp truck on your way up to the North Shore, STOP. It is delish. And don't let the price deter you. It is SO worth it. 2. I got this papaya salad in Haleiwa at a Thai restaurant called Haleiwa Eats. Probably one of the yummiest Thai places I've been to. If you're ever stopping through town, it's worth a shot!
